Fleet Week 99 - San Francisco

These are my own personal pictures. They are not to be used without my permission under any circumstances. They are to be considered as copyrighted material.

Anyway... since I've been having trouble with my scanner (getting decent colors and brightness), I paid some extra money to have these scanned immediately after developing at my local 1 hour film shop. The results were terrible. The scans are very dark, the colors are very green. Ant it cost a lot! Oh well. Suddenly, my scanner doesn't seem to do half bad!! Here are those pictures, HEAVILY brightended, gamma corrected, and color shifted.

Photo Experts among you, PLEASE HELP!!! My last few rolls of film have had some problems with them, and if you have any suggestions, send them my way (email:jeff@supremus.com). Nevermind... it was merely a dirty lens!

  1. There's the halo affect in the center of these pictures. On paper it is barely noticeable, but the poor computerized color dithering amplifies the problem. This roll was shot with a 40-200mm zoom lens and a small hood. Is the hood causing this effect? I've had better results without it!
  2. What are all these specks, blothches, hairs, scratches on many of the prints? (On many rolls of film too!) Whatever they are is on the negatives too. Is it my lens? my camera? a bad batch of film? a sloppy 1 hour developer? bad film stock? Its Kodak Royal Gold 100 so I bet the film is of decent quality. The 1 hour developer seems to do good by my friends; and they use Kodak Royal Gold paper. I think the defects would be more consistent if it were the lens. So is it my camera??? Help!

I tried to catch the Blue Angels overhead as they passed this banner for Pier 39. Almost got them.

These seals didn't seem to enjoy the air show.
